Krishnapuram Palace is a Museum located in Kayamkulam near Allepey in Alappuzha district in Kerala State of south India The Krishnapuram Palace was built during the reign of Marthanda Varma, a Travancore king. The palace itself was built to showcase the traditional style of architecture native to the land. The Palace is noted for its characteristic style of Kerala Architecture such as the gabled roofs, narrow corridors, dorma windows, pent roofs and so on. It is also famous for a large pond within the palace complex.The unknown artist’s masterful strokes continue to delight and marvel viewers.There are no authentic records stating the period of the palace’s construction.

The palace is maintained by the Archaeological Department of Kerala and contains exhibits that belonged to the Palace and its former occupant, the Travancore Maharaja Marthanda Varma. A number antique artefacts and historical specimens from various parts of the country are exhibited here. This magnificent palace with sixteen blocks is also famous for its museum that houses antiques, sculptures, paintings, weapons, megalithic remains, stone inscriptions, coins and artifacts in bronze. Among the museum highlights include a Bible in Sanskrit language.Many ancillary units of Krishnapuram Palace got demolished and only the main palace structure remains intact.
