Thalassery

Thalassery is a small town in the Kannur district in the Indian state of Kerala. The term Tellicherry was coined during the British Rule and it is still used extensively today. The town is a perfect holiday destination with its unique chill weather, endless scenic beauties, aroma of spice plantations, and friendly people. Britishers used to export spices like pepper, cardamom, cinnamon to various European countries using Thalassery Port.

Basically, a beach town Thalassery has a charm like no other and it has been voted among the top sightseeing in the country. Mahe river flows across the town was named English channel at once.

Many renowned temples, churches and mosques are located in Thalassery where several festivals are held. Some of these shrines are Fisherfolk Temple, English Church and Odathil mosques built decades ago. Apart from this, this little town has vast opportunities for adventure tourism like hiking, rock climbing and trekking. There are a number of hotels and lodges providing good accommodation facilities. Tellicherry Fort is an eye to watch and this building is well preserved and maintained by archeological survey of India.

Thalassery Weather and Best Time To Visit

The being located along the Arabian Sea enjoys tropical climate conditions with hot summers and pleasant winters. September to March is the best time to visit this part of land. Summers are quite hot and experiences high temperature and monsoon hails heavy rainfall. August and September are festival months and town appears very attractive at this time of year.
