Aluva is known for its large river banks of Periyar River has a rich history and culture.Aluva is famous for its festivals, large river banks and temples. It is a suburban town situated on the bank of the River Periyar in Ernakulam district of Kerala India. This particular town is regarded as a major transportation hub and the industrial epicenter of Kerala. This suburb also acts as the perfect corridor that links the rest of the state with its highland districts.The Naval Armanent Depot located in the outskirt of the suburb makes this region as the strategically important town. On the sandbanks of Periyar, the grand Sivarathri festival is celebrated annually.

The Travancore royal family’s summer residence is Alwaye Palace is situated here. The Advaita Ashrams was founded by Sree Narayana Guru in 1913 in Aluva.During the British period, Aluva was the official summer residence of the royal Travancore family and part and parcel of its Kingdom.

Aluva has a rich history and is the most happening suburban town in Ernakulam district in Kerala. It is famous among the Hindu devotees for Manapuram Shivarathri festival on the bank of the River Periyar. Little Flower Parish fiesta adds much color of festivity to this town as lakhs of native and foreign tourists visit to witness the celebration on the Parish church.

Aluva Weather and Best Time to Visit

The local and foreign tourists can visit this suburban town of Aluva throughout the year. Between June to September, this region faces rainy season. If you are comfortable with rainy season then these months are also a pleasant months to visit Aluva. On the other hand, summer season isn’t so hot in this region so the holiday season is dotted with native and foreign tourists.Those who are particularly wish to visit Aluva’s manappuram Sivarathri may visit this particular town in the month of Kumbha (February – March).
