Idiyappam or String Hoppers is a kind of breakfast dish popular in kerala . It is also called as noolappam . Idiyappam is one of the Simplest Breakfast that can be made in Morning . The name idiyappam derives from the Tamil words idi meaning ground down and appam the name for dishes of steamed rice flour. Idiyappam is a traditional Kerala , Tamil and Sri Lankan food . It is basically made of rice flour, salt and water and served with vegetable egg or meat dishes. It is also served with sweetened coconut milk in the Malabar region of Kerala .
Ingredients
Rice Floor | 1 cup |
Water | 1-1/4 cup |
Salt | 1/2 tsp |
Oil | 1/2 tsp |
Sugar | as needed |
Coconut | 1/4 cup |
How to Make
- In a Pan Add water , oil and salt
- Boil water in another Pan with low flame
- When small bubbles of water come out then add it into Floor Slowly
- when it is warm mix it nicely with a spoon and with you hands press easily
- Use the omapodi achhu for Idiyappam Recipe
- Grease an idli plate and press medium sized circles
- Steam this for 5 minutes after a minute take it out from the idli plate
- Put into the wide Plate cover with a damp cloth to keep it moist.
- Add the sugar to the mix and start mixing it gently.
- Add coconut in the last and mix well.
Idiyappam is ready to Serve with coconut milk
