Karunagappally

Karunagappally is located in Kollam District of Kerala about 27 Km away from Kollam city. In ancient time the area in which the town today is used to be the part of Ayi Kingdom. Padanayarkulangara, which forms part of the town, was once the military station of the Kayamkulam Rajas. Karunagappally is famous for pilgrimage places at its vicinity. There are lots of pilgrimage sites in and out of the town.

Padanayarkulangara one of the ancient temples in Kerala is located here which is dedicated to Lord Shiva. Pandarathuruth Church built by Portuguese is also located here , The church is popularly known as Portuguese Church locally. The famous Oachira temple is also located near this town. Alumkadavu,a village west of karunagappally town is an important tourist place and houseboat making centre.
