Yoga – Neyyar Dam is home to the beautiful and peaceful Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Dhanwanthari Ashram where you can take courses in Yoga and practice meditation. The trees that are growing inside the Ashram are astonishing by their height and vigor, which is due to both care by the people and influx of good energy arising from the participants.Try drinking the juice from a local coconut and eating the white milky lining. On the journey from Trivandrum you will see rubber plantations and the local harvest of the white latex that comes from the trees.

Boating– Tourists can hire a speed boat for Rs 100 to 150 per head to view the surrounding forests. Crocodile Rehabilitation and Research Centre: A crocodile farm was set up in 1977. It also includes a habitat for otters near the administrative complex. The Crocodile Rehabilitation and Research Centre in Neyyar Wildlife Sanctuary was named initially by the Kerala government after the late naturalist Steve Irwin as Steve Irwin National Park.

Wildlife Safari – Neyyar Dam and Wildlife Sanctuary are about 30 kilometers (18.75 miles) east of Trivandrum at the foot of the Western Ghats. The jungle offers a quiet retreat away from the bustling metropolis of Trivandrum.The park is famous for the watchtower, crocodile farm, lion safari park and deer park.

Dining out – There have been a number of eateries in and around the town, most serving fast food, or vegetarian food. Recent times have seen new outlets springing up, attributed to the more rich, and spending middle class. These include Silver Dew Three-Star Restaurant, Vismaya Restaurant, etc.

Shopping – The establishment of the biggest malls in Trivandrum City has had almost no influence on the town dwellers. Lots of shops serving almost all good are available in the town itself. A Mall Culture, by itself is absent. Though, there is an Akshaya Shopping Complex, which houses many textiles, utility stores and banks. This complex is owned by the Municipality Authorities.
