Konni

Konni Elephant Cage is located in Konni village of Pathanamthitta District of Kerala State of India. The village is located in a hilly town of the district. Village is known for the elephant cage , rubber plantations and lush green forest that surround the village. The lush green forests of the village have been habitat to wild elephants . It is a great tourist place as one can see the training of elephants and enjoy the elephant rides into the jungles of the village.

Elephant cage known as Aanakoodu is famous in the village which was used to tame the wild elephants that were caught from the jungle area in past.These were huge cages of wood built to house the elephants. At once it can accommodate around 3to 4 elephants. The elephant capturing was officially stopped in 1977 by Govt .

Presently there is only elephant training cage which the trainer used to train and tame the beasts.It houses a history museum as well. The elephant training center functions as an elephant welfare center. The elephant calves estranged from the herd and found lost in the forest are brought here and are provided with medical facilities and proper care.

Muringamnagalam Sreemahadevar Temple is also located here which is believed to be 1000 years old.
