Banasura Sagar Dam is the largest earth dam in India and the second largest of its kind in Asia. It is a part of Banasurasagar Project built across Kabini River in Wayanad District of Kerala State of India. Banasura hills located at the background of the dam offers magnificent view of the surrounding and adds beauty to the view of the lake. The dam is made up of massive stacks of stones and boulders.
Banasura Dam is located about 21 km from Kalpetta and is an important tourist attraction in the district. Banasura Hills located adjacent to the dam has an altitude of about 2,073 meters above the sea level and is a great trekking destination in the state.
